Vertigo

Vertigo, the spinning or rotational sensation, can be confused with dizziness and lightheadedness. Dizziness including vertigo affects about 15% to over 20% of adults yearly. Vertigo affects both men and women but is about two to three times more common in women than men. The cause of Vertigo may be dysfunction in the inner ear, a problem of the central nervous system, a virus, conditions such as Meniere’s disease, stroke, or a tumor. Vertigo can result in losing balance, feeling nauseous or even vomiting. Other symptoms range from headaches and eye twitching to sweating and hearing a persistent ringing in the ear, tinnitus.

Proper medical clearance is important for Vertigo and the symptoms that may be occurring simultaneously. Vertigo treatment includes the Epley maneuver in cases of BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.) Recurrence can happen, that is why it is so valuable to address forward head posture.  Most often vertigo is idiopathic, which is defined as no known cause or origin.  It is common to have the head position affecting many such symptoms. It can be so relieving to find a solution that does not involve drugs or medical procedures.

Our team at Realign by Randee is here to provide posture therapy that is so valuable to address the forward head position. This is important with many cases of dizziness, vertigo and loss of balance.
